credativ attended the 7th FOSS Asia Summit from 17-19th March'2017 at the Science center in Singapore. The FOSS Asia Summit is an annual meeting platform for developers, technologists, evangelists, scientists and entrepreneurs and regarded as the premier annual open technology event in Asia.
The summit was a massive success providing pedestal for more than 200 internationals and over 10 local speakers representing more than 50 entities which includes government, product and services companies of Open Tech communities like Google, IBM, Intel, RedHat, and Github. 100 speakers from the US, Germany, Taiwan, France, Switzerland, India, China, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Singapore as many as over 20 countries joined the event. FOSS Asia is a cosmopolitan gathering that showcases not only the latest but greatest technologies ranging from open hardware, to design, graphics and software. The event brought together hundreds of developers, engineers, scientists, businesses, government entities, and community contributors to learn, network, and explore the full potential of Open Source.
The summit provided the Open Source community an opportunity to learn, engage and network with peers as everybody shared their experience, reveal new processes, trends and dive deep in smaller group sessions. The featured topics of FOSS Asia 2017 were Open Source adaptions of AI, Machine learning, Analytics, Internet of Things, VR and 3D technologies, Databases, DevOps and Cloud solutions. The sessions were very well received by visitors and delegates, who all had the chance to actively participate as the sessions were engaging. Attendees also shared stories and best practices.
We are excited that our speaker Dr. Michael Meskes provided an in-depth insight on Debian, Open Source scope and adoption, as well as, actionable and practical tools of engagement models, methods and mechanisms that have worked in adopting the Open Source technology. He was able to share how credativ could be utilized to aid the companies to become more effective in running the complete mechanism by the smooth adoption of Open Source.
There is a shift in the corporate world. Companies realize the importance of Open Source technologies and are adopting the same. This shift not only impacts the processes but also the companies business models.
We really enjoyed FOSS Asia 2017 and while attending we met lots of interesting people and were able to get together with numerous members of Open Source communities. Further we also noticed, once again, that Open Source is being recognized all over the world.
