rsync Support & Consultancy
Rsync uses a checksum algorithm to provide fast incremental file transfer. It is commonly used when implementing backup solutions, or other applications where files need to be kept synchronized.
## credativ rsync experience For one of our projects, we were asked to speed up the synchronization of two 16TB NAS data stores being served over [NFS](/services/support/projects/file-server/nfs/). We used the file synchronization features of rsync to speed up the data transfer, while being careful to apply as many optimizations as we could to detect whether files had changed. We also wrapped rsync in a multi-process script, to parallelize the network bandwidth use. In the end, we cut the backup time by a factor of ten. We also make use of rsync behind the scenes in a wide range of simpler projects.
rsync is open source software, which means that the user has the ability to change and customise it for their needs. Our consultants can provide expert support to manage and administer rsync installations.
