Xandros enters German market with support from credativ
At the LinuxWorld Expo in Frankfurt, Xandros presented the new Xandros Desktop OS 3.1. The distribution is based on Debian GNU/Linux and is up against established distributions such as Novell/SuSE and Red Hat Linux in Germany. Yet the timing could be in their favour, as both of these distributions have mostly given up on the consumer market, and the sale of SuSE has also caused a number of users to look elsewhere.
The new Xandros desktop offers a number of interesting features:
- With CrossOver Office 5.0 TM, applications such as Microsoft Office ® or Adobe Photoshop ® can be started
- Xandros is WLAN-enabled (802.11g) and includes an Access Point locator
- Skype-to-Skype VoIP support
- The "NX Client" from NoMachine for thin client remote access to applications on Linux servers
credativ's team of Linux specialists provide support for Debian GNU/Linux and Debian-derived distributions including Xandros.
